Oh, hi there.

Have you ever considered starting your own podcast but felt overwhelmed by the cost and technical aspects of it?

Fear not! Starting your own podcast can be both affordable and easy to get started (and it’s a great way to connect with new people in your niche and to get the world out there about your business).

Here are the steps you can take to start your own podcast for free:

Choose a topic for your podcast: Decide what you would like your podcast to be about. Choose a topic that you’re passionate about and that you think will be of interest to your target audience. Ideally, it needs to be informed by what you’ve learned about your business filling in the Truth Bomb Brand Design Canvas.

Create your content: Record your solo episodes using free software like Audacity or GarageBand on your computer or use your phone’s voice recorder app. If you want to interview people remotely then you can use Zencastr or Podcastle.ai (both are free but Zencastr only allows 2hrs recording time a month).

Edit your episodes: Edit your episodes using free software like Audacity or GarageBand. This just means synching up the audio and polishing the sound (noise reduction, etc).

Find a free podcast hosting platform and upload the MP3: Use free podcast hosting platforms like Anchor, Buzzsprout, and Podbean to host your podcast. For my podcast, Creative Status, I use Anchor.fm (now called Spotify for Podcasters).

Share your episodes on podcast directories: Once you upload your edited episodes to your hosting platform. The platform will provide you with an RSS feed, which you’ll need to submit to podcast directories like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts.

Promote your podcast: Share your episodes on social media, reach out to other podcasters in your niche, and ask your friends and family to share your podcast with their networks. If you’ve interviewed guests ask them to share their episode in their network.

Keep creating new content and reaching out to new guests: This keeps your network growing and will help you to build more connections (this is the real value of podcasting, imo).

Now that you know how to start your own podcast for free, let’s talk about the benefits of doing so:

Reach a new audience: Podcasts have become increasingly popular, and starting your own podcast can help you reach a new audience.

Establish yourself as an expert: Share your knowledge and expertise with your audience, which can help you establish yourself as an expert in your field.

Build deeper relationships with your audience: Connect with your audience on a more personal level by sharing your thoughts and insights in a conversational format.

Increase your brand awareness: Promote your podcast on social media and other channels to increase your brand awareness and attract new followers and customers. If you create a video podcast, you can also share your work on Youtube.

Monetize your content: Once you’ve built a loyal following, monetize your content by selling advertising space or promoting your own products or services. This is great for people like coaches, healers, etc. that offer services related to the niche of their podcast.

Expand your network: Every guest you interview is now in your network and many of them will be open to working with you on collaborations etc. (or even as clients in some cases, depending what you do).

Starting a podcast can be a great way to grow your brand and connect with your audience in a new and engaging way.

I hope this information has been helpful in getting you started on your own podcasting journey!
